Rilton Electronics Ltd 24012/E Variac
« on: December 14, 2024, 01:00:09 pm »
Good day, everyone.

This isn’t strictly a repair query, so please feel free to relocate this post to the most appropriate section if necessary.

I’ve recently acquired a used Rilton Electronics Ltd 24012/E Variac, and I’m seeking assistance and advice on how to wire it correctly.
The unit also has a label stating "Farnell No 393-1997," but I’ve been unable to find any manual or datasheet for it.

I’m based in the UK, where the supply voltage is nominally 230V with a tolerance of -6% to +10% (216.2V to 253.0V). However, my supply is at the upper end of this range and has occasionally reached as high as 257V.

I assume that the input supply will be across terminals 1 and 6, and the output will be between terminals 1 and 3.
Input Neutral = Terminal 1
Input Live = Terminal 6
Output Neutral = Terminal 1
Output Live = Terminal 3

Thank you for your time and any guidance you can provide.

Best regards.
