Hello everyone,
I want to start a discussion about phone battery replacements and share a bit of my experience.
First my experience:
All the time when my phone battery looses quite big amount of capacity and I am tired of charging it few times a day I want to replace it. Earlier my phone batteries were easily replaceable, but not anymore. Now time comes when I have to use heat gun to open the back, disassemble a bit of phone and only then I can change the battery. Ok so last year I wanted to change batteries for two of my phone LG G3 (old one) and huawei p20 lite (used it for 2 years). So first of all G3 is easily replaceable, just need so buy buy new one and switch it. I bought one cheap battery from china on ebay ~8$, it was even worse than the one I wanted to replace. Then I bought from local shops for ~18$, was maybe a bit better but still worse than the one I wanted to change. End up using oldest battery... So for p20 lite I bought again ~18$ battery from other local place, was better in the beginning but after a week again, became same as old one and even worse. So no much changing batteries, I am very disappointed as no one gives guarantee and you cannot give it back, cuz its not broken, but it's useless. I wander what batteries official repair services uses, but still what I heard, those batteries are no better.

So discussion time.
Where can I buy normal replacement batteries? Ebay, aliexpress all of those have many negative feedback's with capacity, even if you pay a lot. So where a tech guy like me, who can change batteries himself can get those batteries? I am now even thinking of getting new phone, just because of battery, even though my phone its good enough for me. Where do you get your replacements batteries?
Same goes for laptop, now ended up buying cheap batteries that I can use for ~6months and after that again my laptop goes off after 30min. Couldn't find anything as good as the original that came with laptop.

Where do batteries come from?  Of course,
from taobao. You don"t know chinese words but shop owners do. Basically,  whether the quality  is good or not depending on price.  Never buy cheap price stuff at taobao.  You know  what......I bought 2 batteries from taobao.  They are good after almost 3 years.

What price range do you recommend? and maybe you have trusted seller for batteries? I will try to order from taobao and I can already find same battery for different prices. Do you think all local stores also does the same, puts 2x on price and just say they no nothing, why new battery is still quite bad?

So generally whats the different taobao from aliexpress? are they same sellers?

We (my wife and me) had a G3, that model eats a lot of battery, we always had to recharge during the day. Eventually I replaced both batteries with a branded one.
Assumption: Original parts weren't available for years, every LG branded battery must therefor be fake or used. A branded battery had to be manufactured recently, so most likely a better choice (than a fake LG one).
End of the story: Replacing did not help a lot, screen time was only a little better than before.

I agree that it consumes a lot battery, but in the beginning with original battery it still lasted normally, few days with normal usage. Where did you get branded batteries? Did you get those recently made?

See photos.  I will tell you my experience in buying a good quality battery from taobao tomorrow .

thx, I will try to find similar batteries based on what you sent here.

I advice you to start with authorized service centers. Some of them will sell you parts, some not, but it's worth trying. The price can be surprisingly good, well below eBay average.

In Lithuania, mttc comes to mind, but there should be more than one.

Can't help with battery replacement, but for the LG G3, you might want to try Lineageos 17.1 (Android 10) to see if battery consumption is any lower?

https://download.lineageos.org/

Or you can use numerous battery apps to see what is using the most battery.

PS. For phone batteries, I usually pick the lowest priced seller in Canada, since shipping from China, is at least 2 months, and I'm happy if I get 1 year usage out of it.  For a LG G3, it's roughly $10 CDN + free shipping.  If the battery is really terrible, I can always contact seller and try to get another one or refund.

Keeping the Bluetooth inactive when not in use, will help to conserve the battery.

yes I know what draws energy from phone and how to save it. But the question is how to get normal battery so you could use phones services as they are meant to be used.

So you are in same situation, you buy batter and for one year you are safe. But the point of discussion is how to get a good battery for older phone.

Already called mttc. They cannot sell me only battery. They offer me battery+ change service, that is almost the phones price.

So still back to question, where to get quality batteries for older phones that wouldn't be the half price of the phone.

Did you ask many authorized centers or just one? As I've said, not all are willing to sell you parts, but some do.

I even checked some lithuanian pages and this looks credible: https://www.rde.lt/products/lt/393/73771/sort/1/filter/0_0_0_0/BL-53YH-bulk-mobiliojo-telefono-baterija.html?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=kainos.lt

I am mainly looking for p20 lite battery. I asked mttc, they were only ones mentioned as authorized service.
The link you sent are resellers, as many of them. I once bought battery from them and it was awful. Other shops that I find on the internet as same resellers that buys cheap china batteries, makes price double as resells it. Thats why I am asking where to fins trusted seller abroad, that I can use for myself and when I need to fix my friends phones.

I refuse to buy a phone that doesn't have a replaceable battery.  If everyone did that, all our phones would have replaceable batteries...

Sorry for late  reply. :P  This is a very long essay.  Hope to help you to buy what you want in Taobao/1688.com/jd.com
There are several criteria :wtf: when buying things at Taobao/1688.com/jd.com

(1)Never think of buying a good product at cheap price.
(2)Never buy a product with only good comments(好评) without photos posted.
(3)Never buy a product with bad comments (差评) with photos posted.
(4)Never buy a product quoted it is original. Any products saying original are fake products if price is cheap or not reasonable.
(5)Never buy a counterfeit product. Why? poor quality.
(6)Never charge a battery over night. safety reason only.
(7)Never charge a battery when no-one is at home. safety reason only.

LG battery

Which shop is reliable? I don't know. Only wisdom can tell you.

For p20 battery, go to here to buy.

https://search.jd.com/Search?keyword=p20%E7%94%B5%E6%B1%A0%20%E6%AD%A3%E5%93%81&enc=utf-8&suggest=2.def.0.base&wq=p20%E7%94%B5%E6%B1%A0&pvid=96d4ce8c636b4475aa102966f0380ed8

https://search.jd.com/Search?keyword=%E8%8F%AF%E7%82%BAp20%E7%94%B5%E6%B1%A0&enc=utf-8&pvid=d7d8bce023d445e2939edd0dd2ee3640

And choose a shop to buy and ask someone to help you to buy a good battery at jd.com in Taobao
You know what.......... Hong Kongers always do this step.

Finally go to taobao again, asking someone to help you to buy a good battery at jd.com in taobao
with service fee not more than 10% by searching this word京東代購 .

https://shopsearch.taobao.com/search?spm=a21wu.241046-hk.7607074463.2.6a66b6cbzI75jU&app=shopsearch&q=%E4%BA%AC%E6%9D%B1%E4%BB%A3%E8%B3%BC

Something about 集運, perhaps concentrated freight I translate from web only!!!!
Actually I don't know how to translate集運, perhaps concentrated freight. This word means
I buy things from taobao or jd.com. Then all things I bought will be transported to a designated godown.
Finally they will sent all these goods to my home.
  :-+ :-+ :-+

You know what...... No matter whether Hong Kongers/Taiwaneses/Chinese over the world use this method 集運
to buy things from Taobao/jd.com/1688.com/閑魚/併多多 to save transportation fee.併多多 is much cheaper than taobao!!!!
But you must know chinese words or find someone to help you!!!!!

How to  concentrated freight.

(1)Go to this website http://speedynest.com/insured
(2)register as a member.
(3)After you registered as a member, you will know the godown address.
(4)Tell sellers to send goods to this godown address that is 速巢集运深圳倉
(5)How long can the goods be stored? 180 Days
(6)Buy whatever you want within 180 days
(7)Tell them to send goods to your country whenever you want.  Lithuania right?

How much do you need to pay for 1 Kg goods? See photo that is 182.3RMB that is 28USD.
How much do you need to pay for 3 Kg goods? See photo that is 306RMB that is 45USD.
How much do you need to pay for 5 Kg goods? See photo that is 406RMB that is 60USD.
The more you buy, the cheaper is the price of transportation fee. :-+ :-+ :-+ :-+

Now you will see what I bought:
A GW signal generator with sweep mode ,AM/FM modulation just 150RMB = 22 USD
A HIOKI meter with 5-1/2 digits and with 300 samplings per second  just 350 RMB  =52 USD
A Iwatsu DS8812 100MHz oscilloscope just 800RMB = 120 USD
If you go to 閑魚, 75% cheaper. :wtf:  Trust me!!!! 8) 8) 8)

Will I shop e-bay? Of course, NO.  E-bay only for foreigners :-DD :-DD :-DD :-DD :-DD

Thanks for sharing your experience. I understand how to buy there. In my situation, where I need just two cheap items, it's still not worth making this warehouse fright shipment, but for buying more expensive stuff this is really nice option. So now I tried again ordering battery from aliexpress, looked at for comments, some of them tested battery for few weeks and said its still ok, so Ill give a chance.
