Replacement peltier / TEC for a PCR machine
« on: February 26, 2020, 04:21:19 pm »
I'm trying to repair a PCR machine in our lab that suddenly stopped working, giving a "heat pump failure" error (ironically).

The fault was very obvious when I disassembled the unit, one of the two peltiers is both burnt and cracked (see attached picture).

Now I need help finding a drop-in replacement peltier, they measure 50 x 50 mm on the side with the grid pattern, 53-54 mm x 50 mm on the other side where the wires are attached.

The LCR meter reads 1.37 ohm on the working unit, they are both wired in series to a power rail inside the machine measuring 34-36 V (no load).

They must be rated for 100 C or higher. Neither peltier has any markings on them.

I've looked at the "Power Cycling" series of peltiers from Laird which is made for this purpose (PCR machines), but none seem to match this one?
