I need to replace the VRLA batteries in my two UPSs - both use 12v 7Ah batteries.
The choice seems to come down to Yuasa NP7-12 or Yucel Y7-12.
I've looked at the data sheets from Farnell (http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/612553.pdf (http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/612553.pdf) and http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1524485.pdf (http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1524485.pdf)) and googled around, but I can't see anything which tells me that one is better than the other in a UPS application.
For the record, the power here is pretty reliable, with the odd short glitch about once or twice a year.
The UPS is there to permit the equipment to ride out glitches, and shutdown cleanly if the power goes off for any thing longer than 10 minutes.
Can anyone point me towards which one I should choose, given that the difference in cost is minimal, and there's no indication (to me) that the slightly more expensive NP7-12 is any better than the Y7-12.

go with the yuasa np7-12 nucel is a susbt of yuasa, if you check on the bottom of the pdf you see yuasa ... or a least take the less expensives
My experience in Apc ups where the regulator / chargers circuits who had bad capacitors, undercharge or overcharge symtoms ....

My UPS batteries have always been CSB or Vision so I can't really help there.
What I will say is my neighbour gave me a Yuasa NP7-12 recently that had sat idle in his shed for a couple of years. It had completely self-discharged and was as dead as a door nail.
Having quite a lot of experience with SLA batteries I'd have thought it was for all intents and purposes completely stuffed.
I put in on a float charge and it wasn't drawing any current (as expected), but as I had nothing else to do with the PSU I left it go overnight. When I checked in the morning it was happily charging. A quick cycle test indicated it has about 5AH of capacity at 1A (and it's rated 7AH at 350mA, so even taking into account the Peukert estimates it's a bit down on capacity, but it survived what would irreversibly kill most batteries I've had experience with.
I was actually quite impressed. I'd put a set of those in my UPS any day.

Most of the extended capacity banks for my APC are Yuasa and I never had an issue with them. Used another 24 of the 12/7’s for a solar garden application as well. Cheap but durable. They are outside with just a mildly insulated cabinet to shield them from the elements and have barely dipped.
These are the OEM cells from one of my SMT3000's that I converted to Li-Ion.

I think I recall seeing a bunch of Yuasa in some APC UPS. Yucel is probably fine too but if price is about the same I would go with Yuasa.
