Title: replacement/repair of Digital LCR Multimeter LCD
Post by: VU2CMV on April 12, 2023, 07:14:08 am
Hello Friends,
My Metravi 451 Digital LCR Multimeter's display has suddenly developed a oval spot where the digits displayed are showing lighter. I have attached a photograph. Please suggest possible remedies ( including sources of replacement LCD in worst case ).
Thanks and Regards ,
VU2CMV

Did you contact the manufacturer?
Did you check with a polarizer (sheet or even polarized sunglasses should do the job) if it's the polarizer or LCD itself?

Thanks Haenk for your reply. I haven't contact the manufacturer or tried anything . I wanted to consult people with experience in reapiring. If the LCD replacemnt works , I want to try that. But don't know where to get one or the soecification of the LCD

That's why you should contact the manufacturer first.
Because it's very likely a custom-made display and not freely available.

But: I guess this is just another chinese OEM device and Metravi has no spare parts at all.

That's when checking the polarizer comes into place - if it's only the polarizer foil, that one could be replaced and is cheaper than a new multimeter.
