Hi.
I have this Toshiba A215-S4767 for some time now. It is now crashing randomly, but frequently. Sometimes while idle, and sometimes working. Mostly when in windows, only a couple times before finishing loading windows. Shows vertical color lines or sometimes screen goes slowly to black or white.
I reinstalled the OS, windows 7 pro, no change.
I disassembled it, cleaned it, cleaned all cards, memory, wifi, modem. Cleaned fans and reapplied tim to all chips.
No change.
Checked for corrosion on any components, but none show visible signs of corrosion or failure.
I measured all voltages before and after crash. I noticed 1.8V goes to 0.7V after crash, but Im stuck there. PWM input is 18.9V(charger) looks fine.
Could you please advise what to check for next?
Thanks in advance.
I think it is the problem with the display driver.Connect an external monitor and try again..
Arjunan, Thanks for your reply.
I just made a memory minidump and got a stop error at ntoskrnl.exe 0x00000124.
After looking this up it appears it could be an overheating problem which is was characteristic of AMD processors from that time. Turion X2.
Ill put some new TIM and try again.
Will update soon.

What do you mean by TIM.
Asking because I don't know.

TIM = Thermal Interface Material
It refers to thermal grease, thermal pads, or thermal paste of any kind. The type that goes between the heatsinks and the CPU, GPU and other chips.
Thanks, I didn't know that.
Update:
Still crashing randomly. Not sure whats causing it.
Same symptoms as before.
