So my DS2000 died. POP, smelled something... very carefully looked over the psu + mainboard, nothing out of place, no burn marks etc.
the soft power switch cycles so its getting some juice. push it, stays solid, fan comes on.. but nothing else.
Im wondering if juice is making it through. I did some poking. In trying to find a dc gnd point I thought, hey start with the black wires on the big molex connector... they had continuity to the chassis.. I tested the -ve where the electrolytic caps are not populated they connect to ac earth too..
the dc fan in the psu chassis, its gnd seems not connected to anything I can find, its pulling 9v.
I wanted to try and test some voltages but without being able to find a gnd I didnt want to poke too much.
There is a big diode labeled "NFC36G B10100 KA" its a "Schottky Barrier Rectifier" its anode pin appears connected to earth too.
seems odd to me things are connected to earth, like the caps and stuff.
maybe I'm going down the wrong road with this. (all the damn elastomer stuff makes it hard to probe stuff).
