Rigol DSA815 Power Supply Failure
« on: April 18, 2023, 04:18:31 pm »
Hi all,

I have a Rigol DSA815 spectrum analyzer with a faulty power supply (I believe...). The problem is that after pressing the power button, the fan starts to spin but there is no display.
My first guess was about the display itself, so I checked and cleaned the LCD flat connector with IPA but nothing.

I continue to measure voltages and surprise! There is no voltage in any of the rails of the power supply. Well, not all, there is a white cable that is always outputting +5V (+5VSB I guess, but it is white, not purple as in ATX power supplies, although the connector is very similar to the ATX one but with 14 pins instead of 20)

I think it has a weird startup sequence because there is a signal (orange cable) that is an output from the mains PCB to the power supply to turn on the fan (goes to ground when fan is ON, and when OFF is about 2.5V). According to me, that should be the signal to indicate to the power supply to turn ON but this is not the case, and the power supply doesn't output any voltage.

Any ideas?

I attached some photos in case it helps.

Thank you very much in advance to all of you.

Best regards,
Jaime.

For the wire colors,   any companies can use / define their own colors if its not a real  say computer psu

Some talk here about voltages
