Roberts Blutune T2 DAB radio stuck in F/W upgrade mode
« on: February 19, 2023, 11:55:16 am »
I bought a Roberts Blutune T2 DAB/FM BT radio which powered up and displayed F/W upgrade mode.
I tried many combinations on the select/menu buttons during power up and after power up to reset the radio, all to no avail.

As Roberts radio do not have a Firmware upgrade for this radio and I could not find a reset button or identify the reset pin on the DAB module, I resorted to more radical measures.
I removed the four screws in the back and unscrewed the aerial then unsoldered the black wire attached to the aerial reflector. After pushing the lugs at each side of the top to remove it, I could then remove the DAB module

I removed the DAB module Flash memory ( MX253233FM2I-08G or cFeonQ32C-104HIP) and saved the  "stuck in F/W upgrade" binary image

I then bought a working radio and extracted the working flash memory. I saved the working binary image and then put back the working flash memory.

I then programmed a new flash memory chip with the working image (V 1.03 ) and fitted it to the original stuck dab module.

When the radio was reassembled it worked fine. Now I have two working radios!
I performed a factory reset to ensure that I could read all the stations in my area

I have attached the working binary image in a zip file below to help others in this situation as well as a picture of the board.

If anyone knows how to reset this radio from the update mode without changing the flash memory, I would like to hear about it !
