Yes I agree. This I think it could be "virtual memory", other thing in DOS I remember is smartdrv or something but this is for disk cache. So how you create swap space on a hard drive in DOS?

I don't really understand how virtual memory is implemented in this device, or in DOS. To me, swap space only makes sense in a multi-tasking OS. I'm confused. Sorry.

Edit:

Maybe the device runs a DOS application which needs to store an amount of data which exceeds the available RAM, so it then stores it in a temporary file on the hard drive. This temporary file could be the "virtual memory".

This is easy to check, Tomorrow I add another memory module and will see.

Pay attention to the service manual. There are some caveats when adding memory modules.

There are a couple of versions of the CMU200 that I know about.
One has USB and the other does not.

Potential issue? Wrong image for the hardware?

I have some files (the installers) at http://gotroot.ca/cmu200/ . If you can put them on a PCMCIA/CF card and boot into the built-in upgrader and install them, you should be able to restore all the applications this way, I think. I don't have an easy way to get a disk image for you at the moment.

I used to have this bookmarked but it's a 404 these days.

It works for me.

JUST dawned on me. Chrome is forcing HTTP -> HTTPS....
HTTPS 404s.

Sorry for the noise.

Hello.
Finally received PCMCIA to CF adapter and made update with no problem. Stuc error disappear so clearly was problem with corrupted files. Now CMU boots with no problem and pass all tests except RF tests.

I will open new thread, because SW problems are solved now. Fzabkar thanks for your time and help   ::).

Seba.

If you have a PC or laptop without Norton or maybe other antivirus, the installer files downloadable with being 404'd.

HI,
This off topic a bit. I am trying to enable some options.
I downloaded most of the files from gotroot.ca/cmu200/  using a laptop with no antivirus on it.
I am intending to use  the cmuopts.py  to enable the AMPS software.  Next to where the serial No is entered,
it appears to require a number after the  /   What is this number & where would I find it ?
Regards,
Gary

I've updated the web server configuration, so the files are accessible over HTTPS now, as some browsers / search engines will detect the server supports HTTPS and assume it serves the same content over that protocol, which would previously lead to 404s since the files were only available over HTTP. The two protocols are now served the same way, so this should be fixed.

A couple people have reported to me that the serial number their box reports / has written on it does not include the /123 part. Try /002 first. If that doesn't work, you'll need to run the 'System Identity' task and then get the serial number from c:\identity.dat. No idea why some boxes don't have this part on the reported S/N.

Hi ve7xen,
Thanks for your help. My son is a software engineer. He said he will try & run the py script on Linux for me, because Windows 7 kept not  enabling the Crypto file, despite a major effort by him.  He said it should be no problem on Linux.

I posted the script on repl.it, you can run it in an online interpreter there: https://replit.com/@ktims/SkeletalDelectableDwarfrabbit#main.py

Just click Run and wait.

Hi 73 de VE7XEN,
My son succeeded in running the py program & sent me the Key list. So the /002 worked & I was able to enable the AMPS option, but it looks like I need to down load software for it, as AMPS  does not show in the list of functions. Is this software still available from R&S ? Thanks for your help.

IIRC The AMPS option is contained in IS1MV5.20.exe, you can find it in my archive http://gotroot.ca/cmu200/ . If it's not that one, it's one of the others that are there.

Hello.
Today I have time and was try to activate AMPS. First I was generate key's and activate option in setup menu. Then I was update SW "IS1MV5.20" and all was o.k.
But when I was reboot CMU, AMPS option is working but option GSM mobile station was lost. So, am I working something wrong or one option disable other option?
Ofcourse if I install GSM option AMPS is disabled.
Is this normal?

Hi ve7xen,
Thanks for your help. All went well after I realized that you have to run the .exe file to generate the upgrade file.
I have ordered a B95 board from ebay. I will have to get cables for it I presume. Will this require additional software enabling ?

Hi eurgenca,
After I added the new firmware for Base, Bluetooth, GSM & AMPS & waited for the long start up, AMPS was there & so was GSM & all the other things I had before.
