Hi,

a collegue gave me a HMC8012 to try a repair on. The connector to the front panel was ripped from the main board. There are some pads missing as well.

I cleaned everything up, replaced the connector and soldered a new one back on. The missing traces are replaced with some fine transformer wire.
It has to work, not to be pretty.

After putting the boards together and fixed them in the frame, I tried to buzz out every single connection - they look fine.

After powering it on, the LCD shows normal stuff but:
- the buttons on the right (V, I, Ohms,...) are verry laggy.
- no measurements on the screen
- after firmware upgrade, it got stuck by updating the main board firmware

That means, it has no data connection to the main board (or the mainboard is dead).

I checked the voltage and fuses, that power the aquisition circuit - they seem to be ok.

Does anyone has a circuit diagram or service manual to the bench top meter to trace out which connections are what on that board to board connector?

Unlikely anyone will have a schematic.

I see some complex traces like this one, it might pass between and connect to another pad, are you sure you repaired these?
