wierd kindle paperwhite error message
« on: April 06, 2024, 10:25:21 am »
Just bought secondhand Paperwhite.

Indicates I am connected to WiFi but error message says I,m not.

Doesn't recognise my email or password even though they work on other devices.

Amazon's bot say it's irreparable and want to sell me a new one - what a surprise!!

Anyone come across this problem before

Thanks

I can only assume, it is still bound to the original owners account. Whose name does not really sound turkish, to be honest.
So, if this is a legitimate purchase, ask the original owner to remove this device from his account.
I'm pretty sure it will work once the device lock is removed.

If it’s an old model, it may have missed a critical software update that is needed to be able to connect.

This page contains a list of affected models, and says that a manual update over USB can be performed on them — automatic updates fail because it can’t connect!
