Samsung LE37R72B with strange fault
« on: June 16, 2020, 08:05:28 am »
Hi,

I have a Samsung LE37R72B with a strange fault.
The image on the screen has a dark shadow in the middle.
Its more apparent when the background behind the shadow is darker.

I've replaced a damaged capacitor on the power board but things did not got any better.
When you leave it on for a while to get hot, you can also see a couple of very faint vertical lines.

When I saw the black shadow I thought that it was some kind of problem with the LCD layers, so I disassembled
the TV completely and cleaned every diffuser sheet.  They were clean.  The problem did not change at all after that.

The vertical lines when hot might suggest the t-con board, but have you seen a t-con board fault create
black shadows like that???

Thanks.

looks like a panel fault and not repairable

How did it happen?
Any chance it has been handled wrong and the aluminium backing to the LCD is bent and pressing the panel?

Everything was straight and flat.
When I cleaned and put back all the sheets I expected the shadow to change a little bit
but it remained exactly the same.  The owner told me that the shadow was slightly different
a month ago.  More faint.
