Hello all, been a while since I've had anything to do on this forum, busy with college and things, but now it's spring break and I'm moving on to another silver-face receiver project. Apparently since I'm a sucker for punishment, I got another of Sanyo's plus series receivers from 1979, the next level down from my Plus 75 that I've done a lot of work to. Still not totally sorted that thing out but I probably never will, anyway, it looks the same as the plus 75 on the outside, but is almost completely different on the inside. The only similarities are the quartz lock and digital counter(VFD) boards, and it uses STK-0050 Darlington power packs, it might also use the same tuner board. I just got done replacing the 40 year old electrolytic caps and it sounds great, no hum, hiss or any sound quality issues, the only thing that's wrong is in the AM and AUX modes, the balance is a fair bit off, the right channel is quiet. FM and Phono mode are balanced when the control is in the middle, but not AM or AUX. AM also doesn't sound good in the right channel, I would say distorted, but its kind of like a mic that's peaking really bad. I don't know if AM and AUX balance issues could be related somehow, they are off balance by the same amount, and I definitely don't know my way around am circuits, but i want to know what people think, perhaps you could put in their two cents for things to check or test. I will keep the thread updated on my findings, thanks.
Arthur (Arty).
