Title: SDG830 another boot issue
Post by: joeideal on August 19, 2022, 03:06:27 pm
Hi all
I have the boot freeze issue with SDG830. Tautech was kind to help out with booting from sd card, I’m super glad he did as Siglent support has been to say the least shocking. No reply’s to emails absolutely nothing.
Anyway grouch over the problem still exists.
Yes I know I should have kept looking for updates and updates should have been done.
The issue I have is
I have Kernal starting … onscreen  with the Siglent Logo only.
Insert of 4 different sd cards all formatted correctly with Recovery software on “ again kindly provided by Tautech”
Switch on power then on screen sometimes goes black with backlight still on then nothing , buttons are all lit.
Am I missing something like moving resistors on the board or jumping something on the board to get this unit to see the sd card.
All voltages test exact.
I thinking I may have to test this unit out fully
It was a gift so would rather have this working

Thanks everyone

Yes, you certainly are and have ignored my instructions to read the PDF instructions carefully !

Step 6 gives instruction on changing boot resistor positions.
Photographs indicate these resistors are also on the underside of the PCB.

Moral of the story, RTFM !

Just treble checked and only have step 1-3. And page 1-1
3 saying when data recover succeed
Restart the generator

Restart the generator
There is NO folder Read Me.
Instead the full instructions are in a 13 page PDF file named 'SDG800 series system recovery by SD card'
Do NOT use the USB recovery instructions for SD card recovery.

If you still have trouble download the recovery package again and unzip it to get another copy of the PDF.

Hi Tautech

Nope don’t have these
Only downloads are SDG800 series recovery files by U-Disk
Both downloads you kindly gave me are for USB only

Def not have the sd card one

A massive thank you to Tautech for going way out his way to help me.

Ok tried the sd card Firmware recovery kindly sent from Tautech

However the SD card recovery also Did not work, leaving running for at least 10mins a time
I also tried at least 4 different sd cards just to be sure it wasn’t the sd card.

What I have is Siglent splash screen with “  Kernal loading… “ at the top
When I switched the resistors to boot from SD on power up I get like 2 faint crackles from the onboard Speaker
Did not have this in USB boot.

So I started testing the board to the extreme. All voltages are present all chips tested and correct voltages present.
One chip I am confused with and cannot find a schematic for is this one in attached picture . It has 5v input at the + sign and nothing out the other pins. Front panel leds stay On. Turning off and on odd time screen goes black but backlight remains lit.
Power cycle after 10mins carried out more than once boots to same Splash screen with Kernal loading…
Sd card has all 3.2v at all correct pins.
Thinking now biting the bullet on this machine and purchasing another. This was a gift from my daughter so it’s has sentimental value attached however not all things are repairable.

It’s ok Guys it seems like ds2401 is a Silicon serial number for traceability. I could be wrong but it is the data sheet I found and the chip is extremely similar. Voltage is correct @ 5v

I’ve heard such reports before and always the issue was the SD card was not prepared correctly however that you are getting something on the display maybe points to another issue.  :-//

Hi again,
I have kinda the same problem during updating the firmware and suddenly the power went out. Now the SDG810 doesn't even show the siglent logo on startup, only a blank screen with all button LEDs lit. What should I do?. Is it dead?

Thanks in advance

How old is it ?
If it had late version firmware already on it USB recovery may be possible I'm not sure.
PM sent.

Dear, same issue here. I own an SDG 830 (bought in 2020), barely used and so never checked for firmware updates  |O.  It does not boot anymore and got stuck with the siglent logo remains.  Could you please provide me with the files for micro SD and the procedure so I can still update and use my device?  Many thanks !

Rgrds,

Stefan

At one point it didn't look good to get this unit recovered.  But I didn't give up. With the help of tautech, it was finally recovered and upgraded to the latest firmware.  Another device saved from the bin.  Many thanks to tautech.
