sencore sc61
« on: December 25, 2021, 02:09:59 am »
hi all, merry xmas.  i own the sc61 scope. the only problem i'am having concerns the lcd readout.it shows eights and all the parameters its capable of measuring, i.e. freq. voltage etc. these stay on the screen and no amount of manipulation has no effect. i've checked all the rails(good), checked for bad caps and ripple. checked all the plug in boards for bad connections. i have another scope i can use to troubleshoot the sc61. sure would appreciate some help. thanks.

The biggest problem we had on the SC61 Sencore scope at the radio station was crappy pushbutton contacts. They were always messed up. It was a constant battle. That scope was the engineering departments pride and joy when it was new, but after only about 1 year it had more problems than any other scope would be expected to have after 10 years of hard use!!

hi, actually the rest of the scope works perfectly.  it doesn't get a lot of use. just the readout is a problem.

I wonder if the readout was done with one of those 40 pin 'everything in one package' DMM I.C.'s?? It would be interesting to have a look at the schematic. I think the SC60/SC61 schematics are available. It may have been included in the owners manual like the old Tek gear was. As I recall the multimeter functions were switched separately from the vertical functions of the scope and our buttons were always only semi-functional. I think we bought ours around 1983?

the buttons seem to work ok. what would happen if some of the chips had no clock pulse?
