Title: Sennheiser K6 mic power module schematic
Post by: peteb2 on May 31, 2018, 10:24:41 pm
After trying two downloadable "Service Manuals" websites and parting way with the princely amount of USD$5 each time for the unit's service manual but ending up with what is the operator's instruction set, does anyone have the page with the schematic please?

I am trying to help out a chap whose hobby of making wedding videos has seen his K6-M6 shotgun mic to have developed a nasty random crackle even though i have tried tightening the 'earthing' screw in the body. I think one of the pins in the socket has cracked the solder off the circuit board...

Usually it's dirt, spit, lint etc in the capsule or a cracked solder joint.
Is it on battery or 48V phantom power it crackles?
Found this schematic.

It is not a very advanced device so repairing it without a schematic shouldn't be to difficult, especially if it's a bad contact/solder joint as you mention.
Also make sure the battery contacts are clean and tight.
Good luck.

Awesomely indebted guys.... There's one obvious pin where the XLR cable goes in that wobbles a lot more than the others so i bet it's cracked the solder to the board ... or the flexi-loom by the looks. We'll work through pulling it apart and see what gives.... Interesting circuit. I never knew mics could be made so they're so dang complex!
