Siglent SHS810X does not switch on (Battery fault?)

(1/1)

dekagon:
Hi all,
first I wish everybody a good and healthy new year 2025!

Unfortunately for me it began with some trouble:
Yesterday after switching on my Siglent SHS810X portable Scope which was off during a longer period (~ a few weeks) everything still seemed to be fine...

After switching on for taking some measurements it switched off after approximately 10 seconds.  :o
There was no red power button led! After switching to on it was green.
I thought that the LiION battery must be empty and plugged in the power supply. But it does no longer switched on. It was green after plugin of the power supply.
After some time it began blinking alternately green and orange.
I decided to charge the battery overnight and continue the next day.
Today morning I looked at the charge state but I see the power button led still blinking green and orange. This seemed strange to me.  :-BROKE
After pulling out the battery and take a quick voltage measurement it gave only 1.24 volts alternating with 0.99 volts. No fixed voltage.

So now I have some questions:

- it seems that the battery is damaged? (because of the too low voltage level - but the scope was new and I got it in 09-2024)
- is there a blink code list of the power button led? (I do not found some infos in the manuals or here in the forum)

I cannot open the scope because I do not want to risk the warranty.
So only the exchange of the battery will be possible but I am afraid that if there is some defect inside I will damage a new battery too...

Cheers Chris

Happy New Year!

My advice, start warranty claim with company you purchased it from.
They will sort out if it is battery alone or scope or something else. Start claim ASAP so it can be resolved sooner.
Do not tamper with it.
In cases like these, manufacturers might want to investigate causes.
So less you try to repair something is better for further detective work.

Good luck.

I agree with 2N3055 that you should claim warranty, but here are some observations with a SHS1000X (same platform as SHS800X):

When I remove the battery and insert the charger, the power LED blinks alternating green and orange. So this seems to indicate a problem with the battery.

With the battery removed and the charger still attached, the device powers up normally after pressing the power button. The battery status icon in the top right corner shows an empty red battery with exclamation mark in it.

@2N3055, @mahi,

thank you for your replies.

I think that there must be a defect with the scope because when I plug in the power supply without battery the power button led first turns green and after a moment it is blinking green / orange.
That is what I observed.
The scope do not let me switch on with the power supply connected alone.
Does this mean I have to send it to my seller company?  :palm:
I bought this from Batronix in September. It was the last available one...

Cheers Chris
