Smartphone pinch zoom gestures dont work well
« on: March 31, 2023, 05:47:10 am »
Hi,

i have a Huawei Y5, that has an issue, so that when you pinch zoom, and you place your fingers closer together (~18mm), it goes jumps all over the place. I compared another one, that works flawless which goes down to 14mm, as close together as you could get your fingers. I measured the values with the touchpointers enabled. They also show, that two fingers are identified as one.

I now wonder, if this issue could be fixed with some hardware hack.

Cheers
Toby

Chances are there’s nothing you can do, as that is likely a firmware issue. The only thing I can mention is that if the problem only happens when connected to a charger, it could be due to a charger that has “dirty” (noisy) output. That can cause touchscreen problems. I kinda doubt it’s the problem here, but it’s easy to test of course: if the problem goes away when running on battery, it’s the charger.

I made another test:
There is a big difference from horizontal and vertikal direction. It works quite good on the short side, but on the long side (as you usually hold your fingers) it gets much worse if you go to the upper edge or lower edge( 40mm). Im thinking that it might be just a decoupling problem with the chip. Interference?

Does the problem change when you rotate the phone and the image changes from horizontal axis to the vertical axis?

sure there's no screen issue else ?

if sure so, then it is firm-/soft-ware faulty otherwise some Lcd caps. imperfection
