I have an inop LED driver for my 3D printer that I'm trying to fix. Looking at it I saw a cap that looked suspicious but I'm not familar w/ the failure mode of these and there are no markings on it. So I have a 2 part question. Looking at the attached pic, is this a typical failure mode or is this just normal for some SMD caps to have the metal around it away from the body of the cap and second, how can one test a cap if you don't have any markings? It is reading 11.8uF but I have no idea if that is within spec or not.
Thanks much guys,
Dave
