SMD Component trouble monitoring
« on: April 02, 2016, 04:22:11 pm »
I have a HP E3631A that mostly works except for the readback section, I know the problem is in the A/D Converter.

The components are small SMD ones and don't make it easy to monitor ic pins etc. without causing further damage.

What do you use for this purpose, I was wondering if there a very small mini grips that would work for this purpose.

Thanks
Gary

Something like these Tek grabbers is what you'll need or solder a short flying lead to your POI.

Those that are not supplied with leads can be connected to with push on 0.025" female terminals, you just mght have some in your junk pile.  ;)
