SMIQ 03B upgrade firmware error
« on: October 15, 2022, 03:19:10 pm »
Hi everyone,

SMIQ 03B using WinFlashPro to update the firmware will stop at half, as shown in the picture。
sometimes it will prompt “Program File = SM3_1”. and will stop here。
I am using RS232 to update。
what is the problem?

The flashing software is pretty sensitive to its environment, had to buy an old laptop with serial port and install win2k to get it to work reliably.

Thanks Reply!   What is the difference between USB to RS232 and built-in RS232? The update is half stuck, WinFlashPro will show "Not Responding"!what is the reason?

Officially, RS-232 voltage levels must be +3V or higher and -3V or lower.  But most USB to RS232 converters use TTL/CMOS levels in the range of 3 - 5 volts and ground.  Most equipment accepts this, but some get confused.  I don't know if R&S equipment gets confused, but that's the first thing that I would check.
