Seems to be Powerforest PF6000A, can't find a datasheet available from here.

Thanks, this is in a pair of cheap "Pioneer" speakers, though I doubt they are actually much to do with Pioneer really.
The typical application circuit on the data sheet front page is probably the same from what I remember.

Fixed it eventually, the circuit is pretty much the typical application one.
Turned out the VCC capacitor negative goes to ground through a SMD zero link, which was invisibly dry jointed.
Pioneer DM-40 powered speakers.
