Snapmaker Original Laser Module Faulty - Help Needed!
« on: June 17, 2024, 10:43:22 am »
 :-[Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Snapmaker laser module, and I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out what's going wrong.

My laser module isn't switching to the on state when the PWM pulses are driving the laser. It seems to be stuck in Alignment Mode (Low Power Mode), and I'm unable to get it to operate at full power.

Here are the details:
- **Laser Module**: Snapmaker
- **Issue**: The laser is not turning on to full power when PWM pulses are sent. It's only staying in Alignment Mode (low power state).
- **Symptoms**:
  - The laser remains weak, as if it’s perpetually in focusing mode.
  - The issue persists across different software settings and configurations.

What I've tried so far:
1. Verified the PWM signal is being sent correctly from the controller.
2. Replaced XL3005, R2, D2 :-DD and L1

I'm wondering if this could be a hardware issue, perhaps with the laser module itself or the PWM signal interpretation.

I Have done a little hack to see if the laser diode is actually the issue. Seems to be as the system manages to drive the LED train.

How would I choose the new TO-18 laser diode? Most of them are 5v and as I can see, the voltages across the diodes is Min 15v / Max24v / Pkpk 8.4v.
