solartron 7075 volts ohm meter

I have this meter,it came with an intermitent display,i think ive cured that but,it wont measure on any range also on the self test all i can get it to do is light all display segments and the markers for volts ohms etc,any idea where to start?,heres a link to its service manual,cant post here as its too big:https://elektrotanya.com/solartron_schlumberger_7075_sm.pdf/download.html

i would say  start at the page 231   psu section  check all voltages and ac ripple in the dc,    you have tons of voltages in  this meter

careful for the 160vdc

you have 2 power section and one of them is floating as the warning text does announce

Same answers as before in your other threads...

1) reseat all of the ribbon cable connectors

2) check voltage and ripple of each power line

all power rails are spot on and in spec with no real ripple,i changed 1 cap+ the mains input filter,that seemed to cure the intermittent display but its like no probes are connected,as if its front end is dead!.

In that case you are goiong to have to understand how the circuit is supposed to work, and find out which bits are and aren't working.

Check the local/remote switch, and that there's nothing plugged in to the rear panel 50-way connector. Then start tracing voltages.

There are a few YouTube repair videos on the Solartron 7075 that may give you some ideas.  One particular video shows a thermal camera identifying an overheated RAM chip which was ultimately what was wrong with the unit.  So in addition to reseating connectors and socketed ICs, you might want to feel around for a hot IC in case you get lucky.
