Sony KV-4000 Portable Trinitron Reciever adjustments
« on: July 09, 2020, 11:28:13 pm »
Hey all,

I recently got one of these receivers, and it still works and is in pretty decent shape. it has a few minor scuffs in places, and the buttons don't work and need to be fixed. Also, (obviously) the rechargeable battery is long dead, but the set still works fine otherwise. The image is quite nice but it needs some adjustments, and I was hoping someone here might have a copy of the service manual and schematics for it, and that they might share some of their expertise with me. I know a bit about how TVs work, but by far no expert. Most of the deflection is on the upper board inside the CRT cabinet it looks like, but not all of them seem to be controlled by pots, and are probably based on specific cap values and such.

The colors and such are all superb, but the geometry is off and the horizontal position is a bit off as well. The image is shifted to the left a bit, cutting off the left side of the screen a little and the horizontal and vertical image looks ever so slightly pinched at the center. The colors, particularly red, seem to smear a bit to the right as well just a tiny bit, so I think there are possibly some parts that have drifted with age.

Any help or insight would be appreciated!
