Sony PVM-14M2E Power Supply
« on: August 10, 2021, 12:48:27 pm »
Hello !

I am trying to repair a Sony PVM-14M2E that has an issue with the power supply. When powered on, nothing happens.

See the diagram of the PSU in attachment.

What has been checked/done:

- Fuse was blown, the fuse has been replaced,
- STRS 3115 had pin 1 and 2 shorted. It seems a common issue on those PVMs (see https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/str-s3115-datasheet-wtb.15830/). The faulty IC has been removed and replaced with a good one.
- All electrolytics capacitors, resistor and diodes have been tested and are OK.
- Power switch is working fine, when turned on I get 230v at the main rectifier input. When I check the output voltage of main rectifier D601 (D4SB60L), I get 330v DC. Is that normal?

Even after replacement of the components, I get nothing from the PSU, the capacitors are not even taking any load.

Does someone has some suggestion on what to check next to further trouble shoot?
