Sony STR-DA3300ES AV receiver repair
« on: October 15, 2016, 11:42:08 am »
I'm having a go at repairing this AV receiver for a friend. So far I've replaced a pair of blown darlington transistors (Sanken MN2488 & MP1620) on the surround right channel, but have today found a couple of 100 \$\Omega\$ resistors are bad too on that channel (one is slightly off spec, and the other is open circuit).

Easy...except that the service manual says that these resistors should be "nonflammable" for safety reasons - but I can't seem to find any from RS or Element14 etc that are marked "nonflammable".

Is there another keyword or attribute that I should be looking for? (Or should I just replace them with 1/2W standard resistors :) )

Lecturer: "There is no language in which a double positive implies a negative."
Student:  "Yeah...right."

Try fusible resistors.
