Sony 40" LCD TV: static blue stripes
« on: July 27, 2019, 08:54:15 pm »

One day when I switched on our TV (Sony KDL-40W3000) we had a series of blue stripes along the bottom of the screen which won't go away.
Does anyone have an idea what the cause of this could be and if it's an easy repair or not? If it's an easy fix I have no problem replacing broken components, but I don't have the knowledge (or gear) for any deep troubleshooting.

Anyone?

Is it worth repairing, and doable for a non-engineer?

So this is a common symptom of the LCD starting to die, or just a wild guess?
I suppose if it's the former, the solution is to replace the entire LCD panel?

you can try percussive maintenance around glass/flex cable interface
but due to age reasonable solution is to replace whole tv :)
