Standard Amplitude Signals
« on: May 06, 2015, 01:56:29 am »
All,
I'm to the point that I need to do a limited calibration to set the preamp gain (CAL 02) on one of the 2465s I have been working on. In reading through the calibration instructions in the manual, in Table 5-4, Vertical Calibration Signals, it specifies a number of Standard-Amplitude signals to apply. Since I do not have access to a PG-506 Calibration Generator, I am left with coming up with an alternate method of generating these voltages. What I need to know is exactly what is a Standard- Amplitude Signal? I am assuming it is a sine or square wave, but at what frequency? Once I figure out what wave form and frequency, I'm sure I can come up with a method to generate these voltages.  Can someone educate me on what form and frequency signal I need to generate?

Thanks
Mitch

Just a guess but an online search of the PG-506 Calibration Generator manual should answer that.

The main PG506 output is a square wave, terminated to a 50 ohm load @ 1kHz, adjustable through it's step attenuator in the typical 5, 2, 1 output level steps. :)
