Unknown pink-ish component
« on: June 19, 2023, 10:37:03 am »
anyone has ideas on what the "bloated" pink-ish diode-looking element in the middle of the photo could be?

Glass body makes me think diode of some sort. EDIT: Lack of polarity stripe makes that unlikely. Knowing what we're looking at would be helpful, what is the board from? What is it supposed to do?

Thermistor would be my guess as well.

Agree with the thermistor crowd. Most diodes have the cathode marked with a line (as in the picture you show).

Although I could be wrong about this and many other things.
I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

What does the part measure for (in circuit) resistance, and while your finger heats it up. That will show if it's a thermistor.
But all those all use MELF diode packaging - red glass, not this strange beige.
As a GDT it doesn't have special PCB trace spacings or a path to ground.
