Title: Steinberg CC121 short to ground at USB 5V 5D rail
Post by: tbegal on April 22, 2024, 06:31:16 am
Hello my fellow Electronic friends.

We have a short to ground on the 5D rail of the PCB. Unit will not start.
I have replaced regulator BD6524.
Removed C86, it was a little discolored.
I have lifted one side of Capacitor C42 and IC13. Components test fine.
Short to ground remains.
Any ideas anyone? Before I need to remove more components to find the short?

Much appreciation in advance.

As much as I hate them, you could use a thermal camera to see what gets hot. Otherwise, use IPA to see which component evaporates it, or a simple touch test may suffice.
