SWISSONE Mobile Telephone

<sigh> OK, not a repair but you might enjoy the story.

My girlfriend bought a new (cheap) phone a few weeks ago and reported that it looked nice but the battery life was really poor, averaging a day before it needed recharging. So, last night I agreed to look at it for her.

Switched off the phone, removed the back, removed the battery and cleaned all the contacts, then reassembled everything and put the phone on charge so I could do some tests. As I walked out of the workshop and turned off the lights I saw something glowing white in the darkness, bright enough to read by.

Bright as a torch perhaps?

Yes, this model of phone comes with a torch but you can't see that it's on when the mobile phone is held in the cover as the LED is obscured. Well, at least we know that on a fully charged phone you can run the torch for 24 hours before the battery needs charging again. The surprise was that the phone would remember its ON setting even when the battery was removed and replaced.
Should you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks.
