T-862 Infrared rework station - lamp replacement
« on: December 17, 2021, 12:33:17 pm »
This was going to happen, and Murphy made it happen just when i needed it… The 100W 12V halogen lamp in my T-862 stopped shining. Looked inside, searched the web, saw various offerings for replacement units, ended up ordering via Alibaba, ~50 EUR ish, but now have to wait till new year i fear. So looked again and noticed that the lamp bulb inside the gold-ish collimating reflector is a fairly standard 12V 100W halogen bulb that resembles the ~1 EUR GY6.35 Schiefer or Philips 100W/12V projector (or car headlight?) bulbs.

I pulled out my blown bulb, and that came out of some foam chalk ish potting compound - quite easily.

My question: anyone else managed to successfully replace just the inner bulb?

And: what’s the right mounting position for the fan - is it with the text label facing up, or down?

It worked for me.

Philips Capsuleline 100W 1850 Lumen 4000h clear halogen bulb.
Slightly shorter pins, but fitted nicely in the original reflector despite losing / pulverizing some of the potting compound.
6 EUR instead of 50-100 EUR for the thing with the collimator reflector...
