Need identify Coil, transformer or flyback converter ...
« on: February 15, 2018, 08:55:28 pm »
Hi,

i Need some help to identify the flyback converter (T1, 215 YE or 215 YE), it´s from an old Futaba VFD (Zoom 9050).

It´s providing the power for the VFD, must be 5V and 30V, i am able to do some continuity test with my meter.

I have continuity from 1-3, 2-4, 4-5 and 6-9 (1 at the top left, arroy 6 where it says Q2).
Strange thing is the measurement for pin 7 (over text Q2), this one  has no other continuity with (215YU).
Pin 7 is connected to D1 (1SS187).

Thanks

Jürgen

I'd look at EPCOS transformers with "215" in the code, like the B82802A12A215 might be a possibility. Check the dimensions.

It's going to be very hard to find- I would look at other Futaba 20x2 VFD modules and buy one for the parts or a new display entirely. They have the same commands.
M202SD01L also used on Lexicon PCM. Would a new M202SD2xAA work?

Open transformer this small is usually a cold solder joint or corrosion where the magnet wire attaches to the pins. The 30V winding is fine wire.

I find Japanese displays use components from other Japanese manufacturers. I would guess it's an old TDK or Murata transformer, but they no seem to no longer offer VFD inverter transformers like DCT20EFD-UxxSOA5 in Maxim Reference Design 4363.
Noritake would probably use TDK parts as well.

I also have an Apexi AFC (flyback converter (T1, 440 YX), it´s from a Futaba VFD) with a broken transformer or coil, but this one has the number 440 YX. If you can help me with replacement information, I would appreciate it very much.
