Hello AlcidePiR2, I realize that it has been a couple of years, but did you make any further progress with you Tek scope? I have a TDS3054B with *exactly* the same symptoms as yours. I have checked the power supply voltages etc and I also don't have a square wave test signal. This scope was working, but hasn't been powered on for 3-4 years. When I went to use it again, it was dead (with the exception of the fan and screen backlight) Best Paul. |

Hello AlcidePiR2, I've progressed the diagnosis of my dead TDS3000 to where I think it might be the processor (either dead or broken BGA connection). I have started a new thread dealing with that: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/dead-tds3000b-(3054b)-possibly-processor/ |

Well I know it has been nearly 2 years since I last posted on this thread, but I *finally* got around to removing/replacing the Motorola Processor BGA. I replaced the chip with a new one purchased from Motorola/NXP And.....drum roll.... **No Change** :-( :-( Same symptoms, blank screen with white back light and fan running, no other activity So after all this time, I think that was a 'red herring' Hmmmm.... So, back to the drawing board so to speak |

Check the bus, maybe there's somewhere a short between address/data pins. I recommend you inspect pins of memory chips with a microscope, check adjacent pins for shorts, and check the bus activity on all address and data pins. |
