Hi Everybody,
I have an old TDS3014 that has just broken down in 2021! TDS no longer starts completely and stops at the logo screen.
I suspect the RTC chip DS1742 who include lithium battery for operate about 10 years.
See the attached file for more details for the battery replacement in the DS1742 chip.

I also unsoldered the chip on my TL5204B and secured it with the data I / O. Then I soldered in a socket and now change the circuit every few years and secure the content beforehand. Works wonderfully!

A dead DS1742 does not normally prevent the scope from booting, it only makes the clock stop keeping time and stored settings are lost. Try holding down B-trig while turning the power on, that should clear and initialize the NVRAM in case it is corrupted in a way that somehow prevents booting.
