This will be very interesting to watch! Even if the attempt does not work.... seeing the process unfold will be rather cool.

Even if a bonder is available, how does one obtain bare die switches, FETs, etc. in single unit quantities?

DK, etc. show minimum orders of 25,50,100 units!

Seems like it would be a bit of a waste to experiment too much with it using QFN's etc. However if you got a wire bonder then absolutely swap in a new switch.

Curious what level of wire bonder would be appropriate for this job. My best guess is that a fairly basic and old, but working one would be ok. No real need for the ultra-deluxe sub-micron computer vision based systems.

Is not possible to bypass the amplifier on the 13ghz path and put an outside amplifier to regain that 20db of loss you have? And Than bypass the ALC circuit to look at the power after the "outside" amplifier?

Have you done this process yourself, or do your technicians typically do this type of process? I have seen the machines, but have no reference for how they work or what kind of skills are needed.

I have procured the finest popcorn and butter for part 2.

Yes, I have done wire bonding before. As with any skill, practice is required. :)

I'd wirebond it for you, but don't have access to one at the moment. I think getting access to a wirebonder through a colleague and making this process part of the repair video would be really instructive to viewers!
