Tek 564B Timebase Problem
« on: January 13, 2021, 10:42:01 am »
Hi Everyone,

I recently came into the company of a beautiful old Tektronix 465B.

It's in great condition- cosmetically it looks great with only a few minor scuffs and dents on the exterior but otherwise it looks fantastic. it only needed a minor clean to get it to the state you see below.

However it does have one problem which I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with:

The type 3B4 timebase was missing a grub screw on the TIME /DEV knob (the other ring) and had come completely loose. I think it may have lost it's sync to the inner knob because unfortunately the time base isn't working at all.

I managed to get it working in the 1 mSec position, but that was short lived.

I've looked in the Tek 3B4 manual on Tek Wiki but can't seem to find a procedure for aligning the inner and outer time base knobs- so I think the next step will be to start checking components in the time base unit.

This kind of high voltage stuff is beyond my paygrade... so I thought I'd ask if anyone had  any suggestions for any easy fixes?

If not I might have to take it to a professional!

Thanks in advance  :-+
