Tek TDS 540a backup with Tektool Madao
« on: November 26, 2020, 08:17:33 pm »
I have a TDS540a which is rather old as you all know. I was worried about the internal Dallas 1650 falling ie battery. So I used tektool (Thanks Madao!  :-+ ) from a thread I found here to backup firmware and nvsram. I wonder however if that actually has backed up Dallas chip? I don't think i would be in a position to calibrate this unit as I don't have all required equipment. And the Tek tool to actually perform the calibration. Read somewhere that it can also be done via GPIB but don't have any details on that. The Firmware backup is 3 meg and nvsram is 1meg. It detected chip 28F020

Thank All

Hello

I am glad :-)

It is correct,  TDS540A use  28F020 flash, 3 MB  Firmware.
NVSRAM on TDS5xxA is uniquie. Only this serie use DS1650 (512kb ) for calibration data,  not  DS1245 (128kb)  by old serie and DS1486 (128kb include data  & time) by new serie.
But i haven't  this serie,  -> i don't know , which address have this 512kb NVSRAM-space.  Probably address range 0x0400 0000 to 0x0407 FFFF

Can i get this nvsram backup ? I want check.  (or you should found  12345678 hexdezimal at 0x10 Address of NVSRAM Dump)
Which  GPIB Adapter did you use?

It means,  only lower 512kbyte is correct and NVSRAMdump is saved ! Other upper half is not important. But, you can write it  direct with 1MB dump.
Upper 512kb  = dev /null ;-)
(or   -l 0x8000 instead -l 0x100000  by read/write-commando)
