I have a TLA510 at work that we don't use often. I fired it up and could not connect with my new desktop, which has a different IP than the one used when I last used the TLA. So, I tried to get in through the serial port. At power up, it reports mainframe power usage and self-test of modules.
Then, I get a bunch of gibberish on the screen, and then after the booting completes (HDD light off) if I hit enter I get "this system is configured for 92XTerm operation, but is not in use."
The manual says to set for boot> prompt, which works, and then type /config
This does something, but I cannot see the menu I am supposed to see.
I don't know if something has gotten corrupted (hard drive or EPROMS) or that it
switches baud rates for a while. I left the baud rate switches both up for 38.4K
(the default) and I do see a few characters in the gibberish that look like the expected output.
Anybody remember this ancient machine?
Thanks,
Jon
