Tektronix 2221 Restoration Help!

okay guys so yesterday i had bought a Tektronix 2221 for $120 and it works and no problems, but its dirty and like how i usually go after dirt on some stuff i take my rubbing alcohol and rub it off, and so i did to the blue metal casing and the damn paint starts rudding onto my cloth, wtf. so what can i use to clean it without damaging its paint?

Also with that theres these rubber things on the front and back, they seem to be glued onto the metal housing, how would i go on removing them and should i even do so.
