JBC DME bricked during firmware update
« on: July 24, 2018, 07:44:07 am »
Hi,
I tried tu update firmware of my DME station (program version 9996967).
1) I formatted my usb flash drive with FAT32 system.
2) I downloaded 8886133.jbc and 8886238.jbc files to my flash drive from jbc website
3) I connected flash drive to DME a initiated firmware update.
4) It started updating firmware. After a while DME restarted. I was prompted to calibrate touch screen and to do calibration challenge.
5) Update process continued and then DME displayed An error ocurred during process (UM3).

Now, after turning it on, DME displays JBC logo and then black screen forever. All tools connected are heated when removed from stands. I can see my DME in JBC Stations Updater 3.25.9.0 with program version 8886131 and status "Not updateable".

Anyone with any experience in unbricking JBC?

JBC technical support was able to provide instructions how to recover bricked DME. I formatted my USB drive using FAT16, created folder called "recovery" and loaded it with firmware files. After that the station was able to perform firmware upgrade.
