Tektronix 2432A noisy trace
« on: February 23, 2023, 07:16:29 pm »
Hi, I have a Tek 2432A scope. It works well except it has a bit of a noisy trace. Grounding the input channel(s) does not change that, still noisy.
Anyone experienced this before? Any clues where I have to look to fix this?

That actually looks kinda normal.  Go down to 2mV and check it.  I have a 2430 and a 2440 and they both pretty much do the same.
There's no point getting old if you don't have stories.

Didn't we just cover this?

The Tektronix 2400 series DSOs are pretty noisy because of their CCD technology, but that looks pretty normal to me, and is actually not bad for a 300 MHz bandwidth, but check at the most sensitive vertical sensitivity to make sure.
