Tektronix 2465A CT bootup test
« on: March 10, 2024, 01:56:07 am »
Hi everyone.  I have read the service manual and I'm not sure if I'm encountering a problem or not.  The scope seems to boot fine with no error messages, but the light sequence it goes through is different than the one shown in this video:

That video does one single cycle through CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4, ADD, INVERT and ends with the VERT light in the trigger section.

My scope goes through CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4, ADD, INVERT.  Then the GPIB lights for LOCK and REM blink once and it repeats CH1 (but blinks the TRIG'D light and blinks the CH4 light in the trigger section and then holds the CH1 light on the trigger section), CH2 (blinks the TRIG'D light as the CH1 light in the trigger section continues on), CH3 (blinks the TRIG'D light as the CH1 light in the trigger section continues on), CH4 (CH1 light in the trigger section continues on), ADD (CH1 light in the trigger section continues on), INVERT (blinks the TRIG'D light as the CH1 light in the trigger section continues on), CHOP'D (CH1 light in the trigger section continues on) and then completes with VERT in the trigger section and the scope goes to last known settings.

Can someone tell me if there is any issue with my boot sequence?

Thanks!

Hi,

Nothing to worry about. Deviations of a "normal" Boot Sequence are a result of installed Options and Firmware Versions.

Thank you for letting me know. According to the service manual a blinking A SWP TRIG’D light is a fault so I was worried.

I guess the 2465A CT has a slight different boot up sequence than the 2465A. Before I took mine apart to be recapped, I filmed it because of an issue I'm having with it, but you can see the boot up sequence here:

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Hi tonedeak99,

Checked it today with a good Early 2465BCT (B016124). Boot-Up Sequence is the same as you described. Thus again nothing to worry about.
