| Tektronix 453 High Voltage Transformer |

| Douglasfir:
Hey guys, I'm in need of of a guide, or some assistance on rewinding a Tektronix 453 oscilloscopes high voltage transformer. Upon placing an ammeter across F937, and brining up the line voltage slowly, the current climbs fairly quickly to about 800mA where I shut the power off. I am told a properly operating circuit will draw somewhere around 2-300mA. A little background, Q937 was missing, (HV oscillator, equivalent to a 2n3055). F937 was open, When powering up slowly q937 gets far hotter than it should. Checked 500pf doorknob capacitor on the anode and it is not shorted. Power supply voltages (+12, +75, are within spec.) I have scoped the base of Q937, and the waveform is there, but it is heavily damped. This is at 20us, and running reduced line voltage (about 40VAC). I guess what i'm looking for here is someone that has a transformer they'd sell, or some guidance on rewinding mine. I have never rewound a coil of this size and it seems like a daunting task. Can anyone please help? Thanks so much! |

I am not double posting, I am looking for assistance in rewinding the transformer. |

It relates to the same topic and the same transformer. Post the additional stuff that you listed above as a reply to the existing thread. |
