Tektronix 465 no trace
« on: October 07, 2022, 06:26:09 pm »
Hello I bought today this oscilloscope: it is in good condition, display illumination lights up also if it is a little flickering, every indicator light turns on, the only big problem is the CRT: it looks completely dead, it shows nothing. I measured the voltages and they are all lower than expected: +15V +11.27V;  +8V +5.76V;  -8V -6.23V;  +5V +4.14V. Another problem is the fan, it doesn't work. Instead the fuse isn't blown. Can someone help me  :-BROKE ?

I'm no expert on the 465, but I have seen an open, even intermittent, bridge rectifier.

Rather than pulling out the board for service, it's possible to wiggle the rectifier until the leads break, then clear the holes and solder in the replacement.

All of those PSU voltages are referenced to the +55V source. If that voltage is low then the entire PSU will be low. Check the +55V and repair as required.
