Tektronix 465 - Vertical Deflection
« on: August 20, 2024, 09:53:12 pm »
Hello Forum.

I have a Tektronix 465 which I want to fix.  I have been using it almost daily since 1998.  Several weeks ago I powered it on and the vertical deflection was gone.  If I press the beam finder, a horizontal trace will appear on screen, about a quarter inch above center.  The up-down adjustment will not bring that trace into the visible area of the screen.

Any advice that would help in diagnosing and repairing this problem would be appreciated very much.  Thanks in advance.

Henry

I recommend the 465 service manual with the "fault search tree diagramm".

If you have this,
the very first step is to check ALL voltages on the main PCB (+50V. +15, -15V. 8V etc.) --- with the age of the scope, it's the point to start with  ;D

You can take a look at that video: It is for 475 but i believe it might be helpful. Also if you have a transistor tester i would strongly recommend checking the transistors around the vertical deflection circuit. You can also find the service manual at the Tekwiki.
