Tektronix 7603
« on: December 05, 2015, 04:58:07 am »
I received a tektronix 7603 yesterday from america (i live in australia) and the shipping was so poor that some of the dials were pushed in and broken. i have attached photos of the damage and the circuit board that has been affected.

the company that sold is it offering me a $50 refund for the damage so i was wondering if i can get a replacement circuit board/face and fix it for a decent amount of money.

Thanks.

Look here of the part numbers:
http://w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/7603
http://w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/7D01
For completion but you don't seem to have damage on this:
http://w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/DF1

and check here if they offer spares:
http://www.qservice.tv/tek_spares8.htm

Edit: About the circuit board, what is the damage in there? is that the screen circuit board? or the logic analyzer one?

At least the manuals will tell you the part number for the other pieces so you can find them if available.

Well if you can't use it and the seller doesn't want it back. I do collect 7000 plug-ins. Maybe if you want to get rid of the 7D01 and the DF1 I will find them a good home either here (bottom one):

or here:

Of course if the price is right

i have never intended to use those plugins anyway - ive got others on order.

one of the knobs was cracked and the outer length of it is slightly bent. apart from that there is no damage i can see and if i end up having this scope you most certainly can have it. ill let you name the price as long as its not a completely one sided affair :)

im a little confused here -

ive attached a screenshot of the manual and circled both parts that i need to replace because of the bent shafts.

it lists them as the same part number but they are very clearly different peices - even in the manual you can see the difference.

what is the go in situations like this???

I'd insist on a refund and leave poor feedback. Otherwise they won't learn to pack things properly, which is, frankly, the absolute basics of online sales.

The second photo - the one where you can see the packing peanuts around the scope - is exactly how the unit was when i took off the cover for the box (in fact it was simply one box put on upside down over another and then taped together) ive never been more appalled.

im going to fight for the refund regardless i think.

The replaceable parts list usually have a few errors.

I think the 33 is must the screw part not the actual piece you highlighted since that's from the mechanical section of the manual.

On page 158 of the following pdf file you can see the Calibrator and Mode switches circuit board with the parts you highlighted (at least I think that's the one) with the part numbers on page 140.

Oh I see, hmm it only says variable resistor, but I can see one of the ones on your pictures have some values on them

I've even looked at the 7613 manual and it has 3 of them, no part number.

I'll try to find it, but maybe it's in here:

http://www.qservice.tv/tek_spares3.htm

Is there a part number on the actual component?

Another source for pots, this place is linked on tautech's post

http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/tek-parts/tekpots.html

But if you could look at the part number on the pots (should start with 311-) that would help a lot to be able to find them.

i have to go buy some tiny allen keys to get the pots off my standard kits arent small enough.

in the meantime - the CRT was also damaged in the shipping - photo attached.

This isnt in the visible area but should i look at getting a new CRT?

Shit, thats terrible packing.  :palm:

It's not the visible damage I'd worry about but what it may have done to the internals of the CRT with a impact like this.  :scared:

so the best bet would be to turn it on and see if i can display a trace properly?

ive been worried about turning it on in case i do - it goes bang and it somehow negates my being able to get a refund :)

Sorry to hear the bad news :(

Btw I did find the graticule part number 311-1055-00

This site is sold out but has a picture
http://www.sphere.bc.ca/test/tek-parts/tekpots.html

Now I'm chasing R1028 (readout/intensity) on the parts but can't find it.

Send pics to the seller and show him the damage, then after checking with him power it up.

CRO's are never straight forward to ship, they are easily damaged.
I've fixed a few and onsold them ALWAYS insisting pickup only.

Good luck, fingers x'ed for you.
