Tektronix AM6302 Connector Pinout
« on: December 06, 2019, 08:36:45 pm »
Hi,

Got a defective current probe from work.
It seems I´ve found the failure easily:
Some wires are torn from the contacts of the Connector.
But I need a pinout to resolder them to the right places.
Any help ?

Thx,
Martin

Great !  :)

Will check this soon - it seems this pinout could match….
The coax wires(which are still soldered) match with this.

Can tell it on monday, when  I could test it at work with our 503B - It would be great if this works and could be the only issue….a 6302 for free, nice... :D

If the cable was abused that much, it is quite likely that there are broken wires inside as well.

Broken wires in the connector is a VERY common problem for these probes.

Also a very common problem with the HP power meter probe connectors.  I snagged a  box of around 100 HP power sensors/cables.  Around half had broken wires in the connectors.

Mhh…
The wires are very short, maybe I must extend them.

If you could move the silver colored "thing" on the R/H side somehow, you can move it back after doing the re-soldering. There seems some sort of a depression to anchor it to the cable but that you can slowly drill out and loosen for the time being until you fix it for good. I would use crimping pliers afterwards to anchor it back.

Yes, the "ring" is crimped all around having a hexagonal shape - I´m a little bit afraid to remove it.
Hexagonal crimping pliers we got at work, but the "ring" (don´t know the right word) would be surely difficult to find as a spare part.
On the other side, if If don´t extend the wires, the length would probably become too short for proper assembling the connector housing.
By the way, the sliding knob is missing….
